Why should a teeth whitener have a neutral pH?

The pH scale is a measure of acidity or alkalinity. It ranges from 0 to 14 with the lower end of the scale representing an acidic environment.

When whiteners are used they are placed in direct contact with teeth for a period of time determined by your dental professional, usually 25-35 minutes per treatment.
